Advantages and benefits

The AA offers basically two types of inspections - Basic and Comprehensive. Van inspection falls into the Basic category; motorhome and 4x4 fall into comprehensive category.

AA inspection types are equivalent to CarExamer.com Standard and Premium inspections. The difference is we offer many more features in a super-easy way, from qualified inspectors, and you only pay after inspection is complete.

• AA Inspections are only available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm – inspections not available out of hours.

Basic inspection from  £142-£162, no plug-in diagnostic included

• Up to 206-point check for vehicles up to 15 years old
• Detailed physical inspection of the vehicle (mechanical and visible parts)
• Body exterior, electrical and interiors checks
• Corrosion protection
• Bodywork checks for previous accident damage
• Up to 10-mile road test (depending on time, traffic and road conditions)

AA Van inspection £193

• No plug-in diagnostic included
• Up to 156-point check for vans up to 15 years old
• Full inspection of body*, mechanical and visible parts
• Checks for previous accident damage
• Up to 5-mile road test (depending on time, traffic and road conditions)

AA Motor-home inspection £238

• No plug-in diagnostic included
• Up to 192-point check for motor homes up to 15 years old
• Full inspection of body*, mechanical and visible parts (except habitation areas)
• Bodywork checks for previous accident damage
• Up to 10-mile road test (depending on time, traffic and road conditions)

AA 4x4 inspection £202-£345

• No plug-in diagnostic included
• Up to 206-point comprehensive inspection for 4x4s up to 15 years old
• Specific 4x4 additional checks, including extra drive shafts, couplings, differentials, leaks and overall function
• Detailed physical inspection of the vehicle (mechanical and visible parts)
• Bodywork checks for previous accident damage
• Up to 10-mile road test (depending on time, traffic and road conditions)

ARE THERE ANY GUARANTEES?

AA also don’t offer guarantee on inspections.

What types of vehicles AA do NOT inspect

• Disability controls and modifications (although they can check the vehicle)
• Any vehicle over 15 years old
• Commercial refrigeration units fitted to vehicles (although they can check the vehicle)
• Body tipping equipment fitted to a vehicle
• Tail lifts fitted for any vehicle
• Horse boxes
• American imports
• Kit cars
• Limousines
• Hybrid/dual-fuel vehicles
• Motorcycles
• London taxis / Hackney carriages
• Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes or trolley jacks
• Specific high-performance vehicles (supercars or hypercars)

Cancellation fees

You have 14 days to change your mind and get a full refund. However, where you have asked for the inspection to take place within the 14-day period, or if you request cancellation after the 14 days, the following apply:

• If you cancel by 2pm on the day before the inspection is due to take place, a cancellation fee of £20 (incl. VAT) will be charged; or
• If you cancel after 2pm on the day before the inspection is due to take place, it's £76 (incl. VAT)
• The relevant fee will be taken out of what you've already paid.
• If you change your mind and cancel when the inspection is completed (even if the report hasn't been issued), there's no refund.
• This also applies if you've given incorrect or incomplete information which stops the engineer from carrying out the inspection.

Are there any guarantees?

No. The Inspection can confirm the condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection only.

CANCELLATION FEES

If a pre-arranged vehicle inspection is cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the appointment, then a cancellation fee of £76 is incurred by the client. Any cancellations before this time are charged at £35 to the client.

Advance from  £239*

• Identical checks to the comprehensive inspection plus
• Diagnostic check of key areas
• Road–test (up to 20 miles)
• Brake fluid test and analysis
• Photos of the vehicles within the report sent via email
• Engineer fault report sent via email and verbal summary
• RAC also don’t offer guarantee on inspections.
• Inspection report will reach you by 7pm.
• We can only verify information what is available on their site.
• They inspect imports.
• RAC inspection advisor on the phone did say they will inspect any car but we had a look into terms and conditions couldn’t find any official information.

What are my cancellation rights?

You may cancel the Inspection up to 12pm on the working day before the Inspection. In the event cancellation is not received before 12pm of the working day before the Inspection is scheduled then the full cost of the Inspection will be due and you will not be entitled to any refund. If you have ordered a car passport as an add-on, we will be unable to refund the cost of the Passport as we will run the Passport at the time of booking.
